Begin a career in surveying

Because we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to try out university studies, USQ’s Foundation Diploma of University Studies is open to everyone.

This foundation diploma will give you an introduction to spatial science and let you examine Geographic Information Systems, Urban and Regional Planning, and Engineering and Spatial Science applications. Develop your study skills and strengthen your knowledge in problem solving, mathematics and physics at a university education level. 

Further studies

As a graduate of this program, you will be eligible to apply for direct entry into selected USQ undergraduate spatial science degrees. If you choose to go on to further studies some subjects that you choose could also count as credit toward your undergraduate degree. 

As a foundation diploma graduate, you will be provided with general spatial science knowledge in preparation for a career in a number of areas within the sector. Additional study within this field can further develop your skills and career opportunities.

Loan to help you pay your fees

You may not have to pay your course (subject) fees upfront. HECS-HELP and FEE-HELP allows you to defer your fees until your income reaches a certain level.

You may also be eligible to receive financial support from Centrelink.

English Language Requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

How to apply

Note: You will also need to complete online tests in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding. Complete the Diagnostic exercises and email them to foundation.diploma@usq.edu.au to commence your USQ journey.

Applying directly to USQ:

  • Semester 1, 2018 - applications close Monday 19 February, with semester 1 commencing on Monday 26 February 2018.
  • Semester 2, 2018 - applications close Monday 2 July, with semester 2 commencing on Monday 16 July 2018.
