The Accelerated Entry Pathway Program (AEPP) (formerly known as the Tertiary Preparation Program Intensive Pathway - TPPIP) is an intensive program offered over Semester 3. The program will assist you to become a successful university student by developing your academic skills before you start your degree. It will help you transition from school to university in a supportive, on-campus, adult learning environment.
Is this program for me?
AEPP is for you if you are in Year 12 and you:
- Want to gain entry to a degree program at USQ
- Want an introduction to how to study at university level
- Want to find out more about university to see if it is for you
- Did not undertake an OP at school and want to go to university
- Are unsure if your OP will get you into the USQ program you want to do
AEPP is a fee-free program if you are an Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia, or a Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder.
Successful completion of AEPP will provide you with the English subject pre-requisite required for USQ degrees and ensure you are eligible to apply for a wide range of USQ undergraduate degrees.
You will complete two subjects specially designed to help you transition into university studies. You will be expected to attend two, two-week on-campus workshops, in addition to your own home/online study in between.
Pathway to further study
This intensive pathway program aims to prepare you for entry to a uni degree. But what if you’re not quite ready for a bachelor degree, or want a qualification sooner? Our Certificate of University Studies (4 courses) or Foundation Diploma of University Studies (8 courses) are the perfect next steps on your university journey.
While completing the AEPP you will be required to attend two Residential Schools at either USQ Toowoomba or USQ Springfield. You will attend class sessions every day during Residential School. All sessions are compulsory and are designed to assist you with your study and assessments throughout the program.

How much will it cost?
If you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen (resident in Australia), holder of either Australian Permanent Residency or Australian Permanent Humanitarian visas, you have access to fee-free places in this program.
Fee-free places are granted for a period of one semester.
To be eligible to apply for AEPP you must be:
- Undertaking Year 12 or equivalent in the year of application
Some special considerations may apply. Non-year 12 applicants will be assessed on an individual basis. In exceptional circumstances, based on results of the communication skills tests, alternative entry approval may be given.
English Language Requirements
You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
How to apply
If you don't live close to a USQ location offering the Accelerated Entry Pathway Program, there will be accommodation available at the USQ Toowoomba residential colleges for the duration of your on-campus study periods. A bursary is available for the cost of accommodation. Eligibility is based on criteria such as family income, home location, distance to a USQ campus and individual circumstances.
