IP Australia defines Indigenous Knowledge (IK) as the traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Regardless of the term ‘traditional’ being used to describe this concept, IK is a body of knowledge and cultural expression that is continually evolving. This concept is also described as Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property. This session will explore the concept of IK, how it is protected and the protocols for use of IK in research and teaching.
