Graduation ceremonies

Before you register and pay, read all of this important information 

• We’ll be using your UMail to keep in touch. How do I access my UMail?

• Which ceremony do I attend? You can register to attend any ceremony time | date| location which suits you and your guests.To attend a ceremony with more academic staff and graduates from your program, please select your Discipline-named ceremony i.e. Bachelor of Nursing sits within Health and Wellbeing Discipline.

• All ceremonies will have graduates from all Disciplines attending

• If you (graduate) require Accessibility Support, contact the Graduations Office via E: graduations@unisq.edu.au as soon as you register to provide your personal information.

• If you require guest Accessibility Support, please add this detail to your registration confirmation during Step #2 of How to Register and Pay ( see the tab)

• Late registration & AUD150 Ceremony Fee payment will not be accepted. Here's how to make payment before the deadline.

• To cancel your attendance, email graduations@unisq.edu.au before the event so your  AUD150 Ceremony Fee can be refunded. 

• The AUD150 Ceremony Fee includes: your own graduate attendance, loaned academic dress (including a gifted mortarboard/bonnet), and light refreshments for you and your guests.

• Each graduate is allowed max. 5 guests. Babies under 12 months do not require a guest ticket, but must sit on a guest's lap. Prams are not permitted inside the ceremony, but may enter the event precinct. Doctoral graduates are allowed 15 guests.

• You can share your live streamed ceremony with family and friends who are unable to attend.

• Ceremonies are conducted  in a fenced event precinct, and only ticketed guests and graduates may enter the precinct. Graduates may not leave the event precinct in loaned academic dress.

• UniSQ Academic Dress has been simplified for 2024

• We’ll provide graduates with a gifted testamur tube for use in photos before, during and after your ceremony. Your print testamur will have been mailed to you, or will soon be mailed to you. You may like to bring your testamur with you for pre or post ceremony studio photos.

• University medallists will cross the stage twice during a ceremony to recognise this significant academic achievement. You may like to bring your medal with you for pre or post ceremony studio photos.

• Check out the Australian Government’s Department of Homeland Affairs visa processing times. Once you’ve registered and paid your AUD150 Ceremony Fee, you may need a Ceremony Invitation Letter to get a visa. Allow a minimum of 1 week after submitting your form to receive your Ceremony Invitation letter. Late requests may not be processed.

• If you’re currently a non-resident living in Australia, and wish to invite your overseas guests to Australia, request your own Ceremony Invitation Letter so you can use this to support your guests' application for a visa. Allow a minimum of at least 1 week after submitting your form to receive your Ceremony Invitation letter. Late requests may not be processed.

Step 1: Register and pay the AUD150 Ceremony Fee via your Student Centre

• Complete the online Graduate Response#2 (Deferred Ceremony) via UConnect > Student Centre > Graduations tile (Deferred Ceremony) before the deadline. If you have previously registered for a ceremony and cancelled, email graduations@unisq.edu.au requesting a Manual Ceremony Registration, and include the date/location/time of a current ceremony.

• Pay the AUD150 Ceremony Fee before the deadline - late payment will not be accepted.
  

• If you need to cancel your ceremony attendance email graduations@unisq.edu.au before the ceremony date. A refund may be possible. 

Step 2: Ticketing via the Reed Graduation Portal (not your Student Centre)

• One week prior to your ceremony you’ll receive an email with a link to the Reed Graduation Portal.

• Use the link to log into the Reed Portal to reconfirm your registration, provide your height, check your academic dress loan, access your own graduate ticket (including QR code & allocated seat). Once you've completed this process and submitted, you'll receive an email response (this is your ticket and your guests' e-ticket including QRcode & allocated seating). Check your Junk Mail if you cannot find this email.

• Before ceremony day ensure you share the e-tickets with your guests, or print them, so they can enter the event precinct & find their allocated seating for the ceremony.

• Remember, you'll need to access your own e-ticket on ceremony day to:
  - enter the event precinct
  - collect & return your loaned academic dress
  - complete your ceremony day registration and collect your Callers Card & Alumni gift
  - find your allocated graduate seat for the ceremony.

Share the livestream link with family and friends in advance.
Ceremony day will be busy and you’ll need to arrive on time. If you're late, you may miss your opportunity to cross the stage.
Ensure you have your own e-ticket, and each of your guests have their e-ticket.
Accessible parking (signed) is available close to the venue, and a set-down area is located at the entry to each venue.
Light refreshments are provided post-ceremony for you and your guests.
